On April 22, the launch ceremony and promotion event of Tacheng Office of Exchange and Mail Unit were held at Tacheng Pilot Zone for Development and Opening Up in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. This marks the official operation of the first platform in Xinjiang that integrates the functions of an office of exchange, a mail unit and a customs supervision (9610) site for cross-border e-commerce.

The operation of Tacheng Office of Exchange and Mail Unit has filled the gap in specialized processing of international mail in Tacheng prefecture, ending the long-standing practice of transiting international mail via other gateways, and enabling direct exchange and transportation of mail between Tacheng and the nearby neighboring countries. Once in operation, it will effectively improve the customs clearance efficiency of the gateway and the comprehensive service level of Tacheng Postal Branch, smooth the international logistics channel, and reduce costs of cross-border trade. Furthermore, it will effectively boost the accelerated convergence of people, goods, information and capital. It will also be conducive to elevating the pivotal role of Tacheng and even Xinjiang in the Eurasian Land Bridge, deepening economic and trade cooperation as well as people-to-people exchanges with Belt and Road countries and regions, and accelerating the development of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt.
