The 6th Asian Beach Games (hereinafter referred to as the Games) were held in Sanya, Hainan province from April 22 to 30. This was the first major sports event held in the Hainan Free Trade Port after the launch of island-wide special customs operations. Hainan Postal Branch made targeted efforts in several aspects of service to fully support the successful hosting of the Games.
Prior to the Games, Hainan Postal Branch had mailed a total of 6,424 identity and accreditation cards in 391 batches to 55 countries and regions with “zero errors, zero delays and zero complaints”. In line with the progress of the Games, Hainan Postal Branch carefully planned and developed a series of commemorative philatelic products, including a pre-stamped commemorative cover for the opening ceremony, film postcards featuring Sanya scenery and a commemorative stamp folder. During the Games, Hainan Postal Branch set up a theme post office in the athletes’ village at the Mangrove Tree Resort World on Sanya Bay, offering date cancellation marks featuring the emblem and mascot of the Games, commemorative postmarks for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as a whole set of exclusive commemorative postmarks for all the 15 sports events of the Games. On the above photo, athletes from Hong Kong SAR are mailing postcards at the post office.
